I read reviews on this particular Black and Decker model and it seemed to be the best for the price. After looking at area stores I found this one on Amazon for less money.

Had I known there had been this much improvement I wouldn't have waited for the old one to die. It does a great job at edging making it a quick and easy job. I have used my new Edge Hog two times and am very pleased with it. I had been used to a gas-powered edger, but had to quit pulling to crank because of heart problems. The handle, power head, and shaft all wobble in relation to each other. The housing is cheap plastic. I bought this to edge my lawn - I think I should have bought a string trimmer instead. It does edge but I don't think it does that well with my kind of grass and my edges have some stones. This edger gives a distinctive defined edge. When I first used it, I was totally impressed with the edge.
It gives my lawn that crisp finished look I want, it's easy to use and it is consistent. In three years of use, I've only had to replace the blade once. Blade wear hasn't been an issue for me. If you are dead set against gas edgers, try this one.
It's corded but I had grown tired of the troubles of small engine equipment. With this one, I just plug it in and go. If your soil is dry, it can get a bit dusty. I'd recommend watering the day before you use this edger. I've had this product for over a year. The Good: You need a lot of extension cord, but that's obvious. Call Black and Decker for warranty and was told I have to take it to service center. The closest center is close to 90 miles away.
I end up doing all the neighbors, just because I enjoy using it. Definitely a great buy for the price. I would imagine this will wear on the blade quite a bit over time and bothers me but that is the only complaint I have. The power of the unit is good for an electric one in my opinion.
