Video Game Beta Testing Rejections - Top Five Reasons It Will Happen To You

By Sean T Saunders

Professional video game beta testing isn't really that tough. In reality, you can even go as far as to say that it's an easy job that does NOT require too much effort and hard work. All you need to do is put the game in, play through it, record the game's problems, then collect a paycheck after you are all done. Honestly, does that sound like a tough job to you?

Reasons People Are Denied For Video Game Beta Tester Jobs...

- You don't possess a minimum of five years gaming experience. In all seriousness, you don't need to be a video gaming legend that has mastered every game on the market. However, you do have to have fundamental understanding of the gaming industry and how game development works. More experience and knowledge you've got, the better off you'll be.

- You are not 18. Beta game testing is a job, meaning you'll have to be a" grownup" should you desire to work full time. There can be some exceptions to this "rule", but most of the time, it's unbreakable.

- You do not have the proper equipment. Should you plan on testing games from your home (which is the aim of most testers), then you're going to need the appropriate gaming gear; a hdtv, a xbox 360, a ps3, a nintendo Wii, and a high-end gaming PC. If you don't have this gaming equipment (you really should if you're a true gamer), then your only choice is to work at a game testing center -- and that is only if they'll accept you.

- You do not have a resume. This is much more than just a job. It is a possible career. So if you want to be taken seriously, you must have a resume that potential employers are not going to simply ball up and toss in the trash. Ensure that it LOOKS professional, details your vast gaming experience, lists your references (if you've got any), and clarifies why you'd be a resource to their team of game testers.

- You have awful grammar skills. Game testers fill out a great many reports & forms that are used by game programmers to repair & improve game titles. If the reports aren't properly detailed and easily understood, the programmers can not do their job. If a programmer is not able to do his job, it means the tester has failed to do his.

If some of the 5 things in this article are standing in your way, then just do yourself a favor and get started on clearing them OUT of the way as quickly as possible. The faster you can do that, the sooner there are yourself sitting in front of a TV with your first video game beta tester job!
