Defend Your Property From Raccoon Invasion

By Mike Goldberg

Having a raccoon under the house can actually be irritating. They not only cause disorder by scavenging the bins and spoiling the lawn on the garden, but they could cause a serious threat to your pets and youngsters. Raccoons are understood to be curious creatures. They come to your house during nigh time in a search for food and a possible safe harbor for laying birth. And they can be brutal on shielding their young. How to get shot of these pesky tiny creatures and stop them from coming back? This article will debate some of the many way to get rid of a raccoon from the household.

lf a raccoon already found a shelter in your house, then most likely that's why they hang around. Raccoons customarily dig a hole beneath the house. Check the vicinity if ever you find one and if there is try and check if there are raccoon babies. If there are babies under the house, postpone the removal process till the babies can walk and follow their mummy anywhere.

Try to cover any open spaces underneath the house, leaving only 1 entry on the raccoon's den. Try to employ a transportable radio near their shelter and tune it onto a talk station. Turn the radio on during nigh time sufficient for the animals to listen to it. This may give an impression to the raccoons that there are humans nearby the shelter and in due time they are going to leave and look for another place. If in case this strategy is not effective, then try focusing brilliant light on the den to ward them off. Another solution is by placing rags soaked in ammonia around the den. The scent of ammonia will irritate the raccoons and forcing them to leave.

To see if the vermins have left your residence, block the entrance using a newspaper of place a few large spoons of flour on the den's entrance. If the paper was not disturbed or you do not see any tracks in the following couple of days, then the raccoons already left your place. Cover the den permanently so they won't come back. Mixed a large spoon of bleach with water and pour it onto the ground of the covered den to erase the perfume of the previous dwellers. This may prevent other raccoons from coming by and causing commotion again to your home.

If all the process fails in dissipating the raccoons, then maybe it's time to do some trapping. But it's recommended to consult first the wildlife dept in your state if it's legal to trap raccoons, as they will be euthanized after trapping. Once confirmed that it's fine to trap raccoons, purchase a cage for the trapping method to be done. A 32" x 12" cage is good enough to trap a full sized raccoon without causing any harm. Do the common system of trapping. Align foods in a trail leading to the cage. Use marshmallows or bread as a bait, as these are examples of the foodstuffs favoured by raccoons. Do the process till the pest is already caught. Check the den for any babies in order that they will be placed within another cage for removal.

Instead of euthanizing the animals, take them on a far location where they can't come back. Drive them at least 5 miles away from you house and set them free on a forested area.
