Applying Graphics To Vehicles

By Ronald D Leverington

Here is a step by step process to applying vehicle wraps/graphics and following this step by step process you should ensure a great finished vehicle every time.

Make sure you don't overstretch the graphics or wrapping because it won't apply and will start to come loose after a short amount of time.

1.You must make sure every surface is as clean as possible. Warm soapy water should be used to clean over each of the surfaces to free them from dirt and grit.

2. Make sure you use lots and lots of primer. Remember you will squeeze this out at a later date so liberal amounts at this stage won't hurt.

3. Brackets, spoilers, window wipers, trims and all other exterior accessories should be removed as it will be much easier than working around them.

4. Tape up all the panels on you so you can make sure than the wraps and graphics you have a are the right size.

5. Apply your graphic with a firm squeegee and make sure you push out all the wrinkles and creases firmly, you must not leave any.

6. Spend a good amount of time cutting the edges of the film for the perfect finish. It is tempting to rush here to get finished but it is crucial to get each cut spot on.

7. If you are filming the windows make sure you do this after your wrapping has stuck and use a good Edge Sealer to finish the job.

8. Replace the styling parts and wiper blades and gently remove any tape or excess graphic that may still be on the vehicle. If you followed step 6 carefully this should be fairly easy.

9. Don't rush out in the vehicle or let a client take it from you right after you have finished. You want to give it time to stick and the heating engine and the cool outside air will prevent this from happening. Give it as much time as possible, the next day is best.

10. Finally, the first time you clean the vehicle after it has been wrapped you must do it by hand and you must do it gently. Don't use any abrasive brushes or chemicals.

By following these 10 simple steps in the vehicle wrap tutorial, you can rest assured that the vehicle wrap leaving your shop will look it's best now and for years to come.
