Details On An Ideal Home Inspection Software

By Lucia Weeks

Any person performing a home inspection will be required to have a checklist with him. Get yourself a copy from the internet free of charge before heading out on your mission to find a house to invest in. In your Home Inspection Software, you must start with the areas that are commonly forgotten by many people. These are the patios and decks.

All the best inspectors start outside before heading inside. A ladder is however needed as the outdoors inspections mainly involve climbing high areas such as the roof. Always make certain you have a steady ladder to use in climbing.

Before you can climb down from the roof using your ladder, take a closer look at the chimney. In this chimney, you need to carefully look for any missing or loose bricks. A perfect chimney should also be straight and not bent in any way.

The same techniques will also be used when observing the siding. Sidings, just like chimneys, must be as straight as possible. Problems in this area are often manifested in the form of bulging along the sides. In some cases, you will also note bowing.

Every house is supported by the concrete placed around a foundation. If this place has a problem, it could mean that the entire structure is not structurally sound. When looking at the foundation, focus on visible cracks. Houses built using bricks should also be examined to establish whether there is any missing brick.

Always take your time to make sure that you have carefully inspected the outer part of each and every door. When it comes to doors, the main factor will be to look for rotting signs. Weather stripping is also likely to be present in areas where rotting is taking place.

Upon entering a house, make sure that you have checked out all windows. Windows are easy to inspect as all that is needed is to make sure that they can open and close with ease. The latch should also be present and able to lock the window.

Floors are often covered with floorboards or tiles. Some residential owners will go the extra mile and include a carpet on top of this. To assess what is below the carpet, it may be necessary to move some items a bit. From there, determine whether tiles are missing or cracked.

Assess the ceiling in each room as well. With the ceiling, it is often easy to identify problems as it is always above you. Given that bright colors are used with it, stains will be quite visible. If none are present, then the roof can be termed as being in great condition.

The final place to inspect is often the cooking area. Given that many buyers are highly interested in a functional kitchen, take your time to assess each appliance you come across. Try the garbage disposal to check whether it is operational. If concerned about leaking, all you have to do is peek beneath the kitchen sinks.
