By Josephine Pennington

A car will never be able to run unless all of its parts are intact. When one is missing, it needs to be immediately replaced. This is both to keep it running and to ensure that the driver is safe from any mechanical failure. The parts of a vehicle can be very delicate which is why there are professional technicians who take care of maintaining them.

One of the most important parts of your car is the engine. It keeps your car running and functioning. Within this vital part is what we call the dodge cylinder heads. They are responsible for covering the cylinders in your car so that the oil will not leak on the entire engine. Many car owners do not get the importance of this part not until their vehicle starts to break down.

There are three known ways by how cylinders are arranged. Cars with six cylinders have it arranged in an inline formation. Those with eight are best in a V type formation. Those units having twelve or more are arranged in a flat formation. While mechanics are the ones who deal mainly with the proper arrangement, it is still better if you know them yourself.

The cylinders role in your vehicle is indispensable. It is like the blood to a body. It is a necessity. All types of cars, regardless of the how new or old have this material. The standard ones have four, followed by the luxury vehicles which have eight. Those sports cars that pride themselves for fast and comfortable ride have ten, while the big guys such as the truck have twelve or more.

The more cylinders the car has, the smoother is its ride. You should not wonder then why it is more convenient to ride in a limousine than in an ordinary SUV. Design and unit may play a part. But the quality of its run is more than that. In order to make sure that your vehicle is functioning at its best, the cylinders need to be in great shape. If one is broken, it should immediately be repaired. This is not to say though that the repair will cover all of them.Only the part that is defective needs to be addressed.

You do not need to be an expert to tell if there is a defect to this part of your engine. Common symptoms such as the release of rubber like odor can be a sign of a leaking coolant. The release of gray smoke can be an indication that the engine is overheating.

Aside from these, we also have the engine misfires. This is accompanied by the shaking feeling on the engine part which is felt by the driver. The cause of this one is a damage to one or more cylinders in the vehicle. In this case, you should have it checked.

When problems are detected on the heads, two ways can be done. It can either be repaired, or replaced entirely. Both actions will of course have to be consulted with a mechanic. Often, if the damage is not that big, a repair is enough.

The best way you can do on your end to ensure that your car is well is to have it maintained. Find a reliable auto shop that will do this for you. Do not wait for the vehicle to break down before you take some measures.
