Reasons You Should Take Up Environmentally Friendly Concrete

By Enid Hinton

There has been a trajectory increase in the world population, and projections place the figure only at an increase for the foreseeable future. Hence, the need for adequate and safe housing for this ever increasing number of people. With this in mind, and the ever increasing need to preserve the environment, environmentally friendly concrete is becoming the go to solution for construction.

Despite being a new phenomenon, the core components of this Eco-friendly concrete remain the same. It still is a mixture of sand, aggregate and water. These are mixed in varying proportions which depend on the needs of the contractor. The components are what is changing, where by using recycled materials and minimizing on costs, the concrete helps conserve the environment.

Eco friendly solid is also defined by the volume of carbon. This may be measured by the volume of carbon within the solid itself against a set benchmark. The measure may also be by the amount of carbon emitted during the manufacturing process for the solid. However, this solid is improved by up to 25% by adding in fly ash, a waste product from coal burning.

To achieve Eco-friendly and environmentally friendly cement, manufacturers have adopted to using recycled materials. The solid itself is made from recycled water, as well as leftover concrete from previous projects. Portland cement also uses recycled materials in terms of organic matter from corals, limestone, clay and sand.

Since solid is flexible and moderately fluid, it can take on any desired shape. This is simply one of the major benefits of using solid over other building materials. It can also adopt to various curves and angles in construction design. However, despite this flexibility it is one of the strongest known building materials and will hold up large open spaces without fail.

Construction that uses such solid has been seen to promote a safer and easier sense of living as well as a healthy one. The solid mixture is not easily flammable and protects against natural disasters. They can easily withstand most occurrences like hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. It also easy to clean and maintain as it can be cleaned using nontoxic organic cleaning agents.

When choosing materials for a construction project, durability is a key factor that many people will look for. Housing units built with concrete are for the long haul and are meant to last lengthy periods. Such buildings can withstand a majority of the natural disasters including floods, heat waves, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornado without much problem.

Using concrete helps in saving the other building materials, since most of them are based on natural resources like wood. Such have been dwindling as their price continues to rise. This coupled with the call by conservationists to find alternative sources of fuel and construction needs has put Eco-friendly concrete ahead of the pack in terms of helping in environmental conservation.

The continued uptake of environmentally friendly solid has increased the spur and velocity of campaigns and actions toward environmental conservation. It is in the best interest of everybody that we all cooperate and push for use of Eco-friendly materials to ensure the environment is safeguarded.
