Roles And Activities Of Baptist Church Youth Ministry In Oklahoma

By Patricia Turner

The Youth Ministry in Baptist Church Oklahoma has been described by many of its members and observers as a place where the Spirit of God dwells. They are known to be prayerful, loving and they constantly attracting people to their fellowship by the way they act. The ministry is a wing in the church where young men and women feel at home and commit themselves to the work of God.

Bible study is one of their identities. You can see members of the Baptist Church youth ministry in Oklahoma most evenings as they gather together to deliberate on the Word of God. They come with their pens, books and manuals to their meeting place at the agreed time. Their consistent Bible study habit is responsible for their transformed lifestyles. Bible study topics you can hear them discuss include The Rapture, forgiveness, prayer, obedience, offerings and tithes, love, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, salvation, sanctification and baptism.

The people are also good in visitation. In fact, it is through this act of fellowship that non members of the church realize their uniqueness. Members visit themselves when they are unable to come to for a meeting just to know what happened. In times of sickness, they are always there to pray and assist themselves to get well.

One of the areas where the youth ministry blesses the whole church is in their act of church cleaning. On weekends, they can be seen with work implements to keep the church and its surroundings very clean. None of them willingly misses out of the work because they all believe it is a spiritual exercise that attracts God's blessings for them in the coming week.

In addition, the youth fill up some units in the church including the choral unit, drama and equipment maintenance. The youth drama team is able to organize a play that can last several hours without boring the congregation. They are usually engaged during crusades and evangelism when there is an emphasis to create awareness for the existence and location of the ministry.

Any church without the ushering unit may lack orderliness. It is for this reason that churches consider this as an important part of their worship. The position of an usher needs a vibrant man or woman who can stand for long without getting tired. In Oklahoma for instance, the Baptist Church needs the youths to arrange the pews, give visitors a warm welcome and direct them to their reserved seats.

The group strives to maintain purity as the young men treat the ladies as sisters and the young ladies treat the men as brothers. This creates an atmosphere for both sexes to understand each other better and prepare themselves for a relationship when it is time. Immorality is highly prohibited but members are encouraged to partake in holy relationships.

The youths in Baptist Church are living the life of Christ in this present age where immorality is appreciated by many of their mates. This is the reason behind the persuasion of parents towards their children to join them. Apart from attracting God's blessings, it is also clear that the members add value to their lives by becoming better leaders and managers in a Christian setting.
