Things To Thing About Before You Buy Cavachon Puppies

By Maria Myers

Right now as you read this you are probably reading his article since you are in the market for a new pet or companion. You have set your heart on a dog and your friends suggested that you get one of cavachon puppies currently on sale. This is a hybrid breed that is getting quite popular and so that is why your friends suggested it. Before you make a final commitment then do read on in this article to find out more if this dog is the one that is for you or not.

The mid-1990s is the time that this breed was created. It is a cross breed between a sporting dog and non sporting one, being the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Bichon Frise respectively. The result obviously was called a cavachon, and is quite popular up to this day.

There is no exact general temperament for this breed, as it will be a basic crap shoot in terms of what you will get in finality. Anything goes in terms of combinations of traits from parents, but rarely will it be a fifty-fifty distribution. Get prepared to either get a fun loving friendly one, or an aloof and proud one.

Mature dogs of this breed you can expect to stand about twelve inches or one foot tall and will be weighing anywhere from fifteen to thirty pounds. The weight differences will of course be varied depending on the diet the breed is fed with. It is suggested that it be given a small dog formula which are specially formulated for active and highly energetic dogs.

Exercise is very important for this dog, especially if it is one to be kept indoors most of the time. Take it out at least thirty minutes outside for a walk or short run so as for it to let go of pent up energy and restlessness. This is a dog that is very energetic as mentioned before, and you as the companion and master, must have the matching energy levels as well.

You may have heard claims that the fur of this breed is hypoallergenic, and this is somewhat true but not so entirely. Not all of these dogs will carry the hypoallergenic trait received from the Bichon, as they will also get genetic coding from the spaniel, which unfortunately does not have the same kind of fur. In either case it is best to test for allergies first with this dog to be on the safe side.

The general average lifespan of this dog is around ten to fifteen years. This is impressive for a dog this small. Love and care, and proper nutrition should see the life span be extended somewhat. Also, regular checkups with the vet will also help.

This article has thus shown some main considerations for you to think about and consider. It may also be a good idea to also research on general and average prices for this dog, as well as training related topics for it. Remember that it takes a lot of commitment and responsibility in becoming an owner, so getting as much information on a prospective pet is very much needed.
