For Senior Dogs, You Should Get Soft Chew Dog Treats

By Jason West

The best kind of dog owners always goes for whats best for their beloved pets. As these fur balls stand the test of time and enter into their golden years, theyre effectively embarking on a most taxing time, both for them and their owners. Dog parents do what they have to make this passage as smooth and comfortable as possible. They start off by transitioning the pooches diet from crunchy delicacies to soft chew dog treats.

There are all the considerations to keep in mind when choosing your chows. Even you probably have a brand that you stand by, just because it is what your pooch prefers above all others. The thing, though, is that your furry friend is probably at its most accepting lot during its heyday, and when it was a puppy and yet again during its senior years, it will be an extremely picky eater.

Thats still assuming though that you still provided what was best for your pooch. The point being that you didnt have to go through great lengths with preparations and particularities. Also, Fido in his prime wasnt particularly fussy and choosy, and his hyperactivity ensured that hed come down hungry at the end of every day.

With senior pooches, its a totally different story. For one, theyre no longer as active as was their wont, so theyre not burning up calories and not needing filling up as much. Also, in their whole dining career, theyve probably had that selfsame chow throughout the years and its not exciting them in much the same way.

Guess thats the common denominator between dogs and their masters. As they age, they usually become more health conscious. These trusting dogs have of course no say in whatever you put in your doggy bowls. If theyre hungry enough, they still trustingly eat whatever it is you are able to provide. It goes without saying that its wholly dependent on you as the owner to be sagacious enough to anticipate their changing needs.

Even when you see that your best friend is on a steep decline, thats no reason to despond. You must do whatever you can to ensure that he makes the most out of his remaining lifespan. Start with giving him food that not only sustains him, but also improves the quality of his life.

Specialized dog treats contain supplementary vitamins and minerals. Older dogs commonly suffer from ailments ranging from arthritis, eye issues, and other adverse age related developments. You must see to it that they are provided with the necessary vitamins and supplements, found in food, that alleviates their symptoms and conditions.

Of course, we are not out to wind down the quality of food your pooch is accustomed to. Just because they prefer to no longer take in the crunchy and crusty treats doesnt mean theres no longer any yummy chewy treats out in the market. The selections up for the taking actually come in many kinds. There is bacon, peanut butter, salmon, lamb, roasted chicken, dried liver, cheese, and banana, also other all time doggy favorites you can possibly come up with.

As pets go on to the trying passage of old age, its a given that responsible owners should be with them every step of the way. Dogs deserve as much. We only owe it to them to return the favors with their unwavering affection and loyalty.
