Original Instrumentals Are More Affordable Than Ever!

By Clayton Bracamonte

So much has changed in the music industry in the past few years. I'm speaking specifically about the hip hop industry. Quality original instrumentals were only made available to the most successful artists. Meanwhile those that were independent or just starting out had to either struggle or go without original beats. Nowadays everything has changed. Independent artists can have access to high quality original beats very inexpensively.

Hip hop producers didn't always have such a huge presence online. There was a time when upcoming artists would pay four to five digits just to use their instrumentals. Things have changed a lot since then. What you would pay just to use the beat you can pay to actually buy the exclusive rights to the beat. The average exclusive rights will run you in the three to four digits area, but there are ways to use the beats for pennies on the dollar.

With the recent advancements in technology, thousands of artists have access to high quality instrumentals. Producers are constantly coming up with new ways to keep their instrumentals in the hands of the independent artist. Some of the main stream artists are even beginning to use beats produced by producers selling and leasing beats online. This is just a new direction that the music industry is going. You can't just take your favorite beat that lil wayne used and put your song on the radio without going to court anymore.

"Leased beats" are the solution to unaffordable beats. When you buy a leased beat, you're buying the rights to use that beat. Typically you don't need to pay any royalties to have it aired on the radio or do live performances. Just to be safe, always read the terms and conditions before leasing any beats online.

The benefits of leasing beats far outweigh any negatives that their may be. It's true that multiple artists can be leasing the same beat at once. However, the odds that those artists ever meet or even hear each other's songs are slim to none. I've never heard of it happening in all my time in the music industry. A good quality leased beat will usually run you around $14-18.
