All You Need to Know About Hookahs

By John McCree

Would you like a shisha flavor that suits your taste? In this article, we will talk about how you can find and buy the correct kind of shisha flavor for yourself.

Shisha is the name of the flavored tobacco which is typically used in the a hookah. The present day shisha includes all or some of the following things:

1. Tobacco

2. Treacle (uncrystallized syrup produced in refining sugar)

3. Honey

4. Sugar

5. Molasses

6. Glycerin

7. Nicotine

8. Dried Fruit

9. Distilled Water

The producers have been experimenting a lot lately and they have produced some truly creative flavors such as Fantasia's "Cuban Mojito". Even so, fruit flavors are still the most popular flavors among hookah smokers. Many of the new flavors use a fruit flavor as the base. For example, Blueberry Muffin or Pink Lemonade certainly have their roots in a fruity base.

Because of the improved production processes, it has become very simple to add flavors to shisha and thus a wide range of flavors is available out there. The dried tobacco, glycerin, and sweetener can be combined with essentially any ingredients to produce unique flavors.

Social Smoking

Hookah is normally shared in a social environment where the smokers may gather for friendly discussion and to enjoy the aroma generated by the flavored shisha smoke. As hookahs grew in popularity throughout the Middle East centuries ago, it became typical to see them in eating and drinking establishments. Nowadays, you can find hookahs even in the houses of many people.

The smoke from hookah has a calming impact on the smoker, which is one of the main factors why it became popular rapidly. As a contrast to cigarettes, hookah smoking is done more as a social pursuit and for the flavor, instead of for any type of biological impact. Whereas cigarettes provide more of a "quick fix" having a strong dose of nicotine and a normally unpleasant aroma, a flavorful hookah session may last one hour or longer, and shisha doesn't have near the addictive characteristics as cigarettes.

Getting the Most Flavor from Your Hookah

No rocket science here, just some good common sense and discipline can go a long way when it comes to getting the most from your hookah. The first and most critical thing is to clean your device regularly. You need to wash your hookah meticulously using warm water after each use.

If you wish to have a smooth smoking session then you need to stop the coals from burning up the tobacco in the middle of the session. Prepare the bowl in such a way as to prevent the tobacco from becoming stuck to the foil or screen; in fact, try not to let the tobacco to touch the foil at all. When you're packing the bowl, leave a few millimeters between the top of your tobacco and the plane created by the rim of the bowl. Then, when you wrap the foil taught around the head, you'll naturally have the desired amount of space needed to prevent the dreaded burn. Another tactic that you can use to keep distance between foil and the tobacco is to place two toothpicks in cross on the tobacco. Tobacco should not be packed down too tightly in the bowl. Rather, loosely pile it into a nice mound allowing the air to flow through the mound. Doing so, you will be able to get a flavorful hit without having to strongly puff on the hose. Some people also use two sheets of foil to prevent overheating. The rule is very simple don't burn the shisha.
